Hi all, we’ve written up a couple of points around the exciting news about SmartMedia Technologies’ acquisition of BLOCKv Solutions to keep you all up to date on what the deal means for the community. 👏
What is BLOCKv Solutions?
BLOCKv Solutions is the European commercial arm of BLOCKv, created to conduct Business to Business (B2B) activity and professional services work on the BLOCKv protocol.
Why has SmartMedia Technologies acquired BLOCKv Solutions?
SMT has been a major user and promoter of BLOCKv’s technology for a number of years now and has put our tech into the hands and minds of a pretty mind boggling amount of major brands since its creation, including Accenture, Fjallraven and Burberry. Acquiring BLOCKv Solutions (as well as Geronimo and Austella) is their next step in building bigger, better and more ambitious projects than ever on BLOCKv - bringing more interactivity, metaverse capabilities and media attention to the platform’s capabilities for top global brands to see and use. PBR’s latest build on BLOCKv is a great example of this - after debuting their NFT trading cards earlier this year, they’ll soon be releasing a fantasy football style leaderboard update for the trading cards where fans can build a team of their favorite riders and compete against other fans. There’s loads of cool features, including things like card stats that change based on riders’ performances IRL, which are now possible thanks to their acquisition of BLOCKv Solutions and the brains who work within it.
Will BLOCKv continue to be updated with new functionality, support for additional blockchains etc.?
Yes! Everything BLOCKv has created historically will remain, and BLOCKv will continue to build and add new functionalities, features and partnerships to the Smart NFT protocol, powered by the VEE token. We’ll be announcing new features and partnerships in the near future.
Will VEE still be used?
Yes, VEE is the token powering the entire ecosystem and will still be used to power campaigns and projects built on the protocol.
What does SmartMedia Technologies’ announcement mean for the BLOCKv community?
